A new manager and a new set of players at Galabank. How will Annan fare in this seasons Ladbrokes League Two? This is my thoughts on the current squad and situation.
With the addition of Jim Atkinson from Queen of the South, Annan look to be stronger in the sticks this term with the youngsters having a good up-bringing with the Doonhamers and will challenge Alexx Mitchell hard to try gain the number one jersey.
Good experience in the back-line with Watson, Swinglehurst and Krissian remaining with Hooper; Sinammon and Creaney all coming in to join them. With player/manager Peter Murphy and player/assistant manager Kevin Rutkiewicz in the mix, t is a good blend of youth and experience at the back for the Galabankies this term.
Further forward seems to be where Annan need more work – Owen Moxon has joined with ex-Queen’s winger Dan Orsi also at Galabank this term. The forward areas are light however and suspect Ryan Stevenson will need to try and cover both midfield and striker as the season goes on. I imagine more players will join Annan over the coming weeks to improve those positions and increase the depth of the squad.
If this can happen, I can see Annan being in and around the play-off scene again; with a solid-looking back-line, a few quality additions in the forward area could make all the difference.
